About the person and the bet

I'm not a roofing veteran. I'm earning the niche.

I'm Fang, a computer science master's graduate and an AI algorithm engineer working on advertising and search at a major technology company in China.

My technical background helps me reason about search, performance, measurement, and systems. It does not automatically make me an expert in how a roofing company wins trust. That part has to be learned through focused research, real conversations, and work that owners can inspect.

The personal goal

Build a $5K/month business before leaving the job.

The public number is a direction, not a resignation trigger by itself. The sensible threshold is stable monthly net income for several months, enough savings, and evidence that delivery does not consume every evening.

I am starting at $0 and will not manufacture momentum. No paid client means no paid client. A free concept is not a sale. A reply is not revenue.

Why roofing

One demanding market is enough.

Local intent is visible

Roofing searches carry location, urgency, service type, weather, and trust. A site has to answer all five.

The work needs proof

Photography, service detail, reviews, coverage, warranties, and a clear estimate path matter more than trendy effects.

Every region differs

Storm repair in Oklahoma, metal roofing in Tennessee, tile in Florida, and commercial TPO require different messages.

The result can be measured

Calls, estimate requests, form completion, page speed, indexed pages, and qualified replies are concrete.

Public rules

What I will not fake.

  • No invented customers or testimonials
  • No claim that a concept is official
  • No guaranteed rankings or lead volume
  • No guessed emails or automated outreach
  • No pretending to be based in the U.S.
  • No public price until the offer is tested

Judge the work, then watch the record.

The portfolio shows what I can build. The writing shows how I think. The status log will show whether this becomes a business.
